Finding Play for Fall
Cyanotype Paper Prattle Vol. 7
Hi friends! We’re just in the first weeks of Fall now - I love watching the leaves change, harvesting and winding down in my garden, and getting ready to really buckle down on some new paper projects as the cold keeps me inside more often.
This year is going to be a bit quieter for me during the winter! I do have my new list-books ready, and I need to work on making some stock. I am completely head-over-heels for the grid paper in these - it is just SO smooth and clean to write on. I’m planning to revise the dimensions a little bit on the full run of notebooks - I originally set them up at 3x8 inches to work paired with an 5.5x8.5in or A5 notebook (like a classic large Moleskine or Leuchtturm1917, or my trust Stalogy365.) However, I’m going to amend that to 3x7.25 inches so that the books ALSO work with the much beloved Hobonichi Weeks! (I do plan to use the longer prototype myself - this paper is just too nice to waste)
Those new books will also need to go up on the website, and to be honest I’ve been craving a bit of a refresh for the web shop, so I’m planning to take some time and give it a bit of a spruce-up!
I’m also starting up a brand new collab project - it is still under wraps, so I won’t spoil anything here just yet! But there WILL be books, stickers and other small goods and illustrations that I’m making together with one of my favorite artists (and favorite people!) I’m sure that collaborating is going to help me explore and push myself, and I’m really looking forward to it.
Often when I get into a routine with my art practices, even as I up-skill and grow, things can start to feel repetitive. Working with other creatives is something that helps me get into a sense of play - experimenting more freely, fresh new things to try, and ideas from friends that I wouldn’t have come up with alone! I’m lucky to know a lot of amazing creatives who are always inspiring me to get better.
That’s all for now! See you fine friends next month for more behind-the-scenes updates, and if you want to see me in your inbox regularly, you can subscribe for free.
